I did another survey, this time of the *.net mail exchangers.

There were 40864 *.net domains found in the 199707 NW DNS walk. MX
lookups (falling back to A) found 20310 different IP addresses.

Of the 20310 IP addresses, 18526 accepted SMTP connections. The
following chart shows the percentage supporting various ESMTP options:
