Bernstein" To: iesg@ietf.org Cc: djb@cr.yp.to Subject: namedroppers mismanagement Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii This is a complaint to the IESG about the management of the namedroppers mailing list. I will wait a few days for a response. In short, to use the language of RFC 2026 section 6.5.1: Mismanagement of the namedroppers mailing list is preventing the IETF DNSEXT working group from adequately considering the views of its participants, and is placing the quality and integrity of the working group's decisions in jeopardy. Please see http://cr.yp.to/dnscache/namedroppers.html for details of specific incidents. I am not sure if this complaint is within the letter of RFC 2026 section 6.5.1, which seems to focus primarily on previous WG decisions. But one of you told me to contact the WG chairs; when I did so, one of the WG chairs told me that I was following the correct procedure. Some of the incidents were caused or exacerbated by software problems, which the WG chairs are finally attempting to fix. However, most of the incidents were selectively and deliberately caused by one of the WG chairs. The other WG chair has made clear that he is not going to fix those problems. I sent a complaint to the relevant ADs nearly a week ago. I have not received a response, and I am not going to wait forever for a response. So I'm sending this complaint to the IESG as a whole. ---Dan P.S. Is there an email address for the Internet Society Board of Trustees? I have the individual addresses of the current members but would prefer to use a group address if one exists.
